Watermelon Wednesday: Tunic

Watermelon Wednesday

I don’t know about you, but I love a nice, comfy tunic top. This is generally a great time of year to find them & certainly a wonderful time to wear them. πŸ™‚ I’m particularly fond of the hemline on the lovely top I found at Walmart.com & hope that you enjoy it as well.

Magnificent Monday: Angela Bassett

Magnificent Monday

Not only stunningly beautiful, but amazingly talented Bassett has been recognized with numerous nominations & awards throughout her career, She’s known for portraying strong characters & biographical roles for real African American women. She was the first member of her family to attend college & graduate school, gaining degrees in African America studies & fine arts, both from Yale. Much like many of the stars I have honored for their magnificence, she is a staunch supporter of many charities such as The Boys & Girls Club of America, Habitat for Humanity, is very active as an ambassador for UNICEF in the United States & supports a variety of programs for the arts, especially for youth.

Her style certainly stands out from the crowd, which is often sophisticated & can be quite dramatic. She does appear to enjoy accessorizing with earrings, bangles & rings, so I have focused on these three in the little wishlist for today. All of today’s selections were found at Tidebuy & as per usual, I have listed full price for them, as their sales change frequently & I cannot be sure what the price you might find following my links, though I assure you, this site never sells it’s items for their full list price. πŸ˜‰

Fantastical Friday: A Little Rant

Fantastical FridayDragon clip art attribution link

I don’t normally do rants here, in fact I haven’t done one at all. It’s high time I got around to this one though, as it is a most unfantastical situation & very fashion backward if you ask me. I am absolutely certain that I do not represent a minority when I speak of this terrible problem as well. What is it that has my dander up so much? Well, I’m going to tell you.

SHOES!!!

I don’t think my feet are all that big, I wear a women’s size 8, but I do not & have never conformed to society’s idea that Β women have super slim feet. There is only one brand that can comfortably fit me & that is New Balance, as my size 8 are also 4E. So apparently I have paddle boats. NB does not make cute shoes outside of the tennies, they don’t even make a cute sandal. Of course I wear NB at work, because I’m constantly on my feet there & have previously faced the debilitating pain (so bad I was physically ill even) of wearing other shoes. This means I’m cursed to wear shoes that are too long & still too narrow on my off days. I absolutely hate that it takes about 2 seasons to break them in enough that I no longer have to worry about half my foot going numb every time I walk.

Many of the places I affiliate with offer little to no options for shoes that come in a wide. Why is it so hard? Why are we made to suffer like this? These are questions I won’t likely ever have answers to. I do have to question if this idiocy has anything to do with the enlarging waistline generally seen throughout my country, as it isn’t easy to make yourself get out there & do things (do you dance? because I don’t) when your feet are pretty muchΒ instantly in pain. I’m so tired of living with this bs that has haunted me for nearly the whole of my life. Do you have a similar struggle?

Magnificent Monday: Julia Roberts

Magnificent Monday

This iconic actress knew great success from her earlier works, but Pretty Woman brought her international acclaim. Throughout the ’90s Roberts was the highest paid actress in Hollywood, with numerous awards & nominations under her belt, giving us a clue as to why. I do find it interesting to note that her earlier dreams were to be a doctor of veterinary medicine, as I too have a soft spot for animals.

Aside from her sparkling smile, she often accessorizes with a lovely selection of earrings, with the occasional neckline enhancement. Inspired by her beautiful style I have found several lovelies at Amazon for your perusing pleasure. πŸ˜‰

Fantastical Friday: OMG Zombies!!!

Fantastical FridayDragon clip art attribution link

Still suffering from TWD withdrawal & anxiously awaiting the start of season 8. At least the spin-off Fear The Walking Dead will (hopefully) turn up in a few months, though the exact date has yet to be announced. Luckily there are always movies, both silly & serious, that can help fill the zombie-less void. In the meantime there’s also varied zombie related paraphernalia to entertain even the most avid people munching monster lover & with that being the case I have compiled a little wishlist from Amazon for you perusing pleasure. πŸ˜‰ I’ve also included a link to a ridiculous short movie, titled OMG!! Zombies, (I might have shared this before, can’t remember & I’m not going to dig through my posts to be sure, LOL) that I made in SmallWorldsΒ several years back. Keep in mind that there is no verbal chat in SW, so reading chat bubbles is the norm & I didn’t change the style, so it’s technically a silent film (beware headphones/earbud users, some of the sound effects have moments of loud). You can clearly see the heavy influence from Night of the Living Dead, lol.

Watermelon Wednesday: Already Considering

Watermelon Wednesday

I’m one of those people who like to plan ahead, though sometimes I have very poor follow through. At this time I’m considering doing some DIY holiday gifts this year. You might be thinking that it’s too early to be considering such things, but I have very little time to attend to such projects & I am not one of those people that can crochet an entire sweater in a couple of hours (I can make a teddy bear in about 8 though). So if I’m going to make something for everyone I need to start working on it now, to maximize the amount of time to work on them. The lovely yarn from Fabric.comΒ that I chose to feature today I thought might make a great afghan or scarf for my nephew. Do you like to plan ahead & are you any good at seeing those plans through?

Magnificent Monday: Susan Sarandon

Magnificent Monday

The ever lovely Susan Sarandon has been entertaining us on the screen since 1970 & on Broadway since ’72. In her long illustrious career she has won numerous awards & accolades. She has also championed many causes, mostly of the social & economic justice variety. Yes, she’s generally a bleeding heart liberal (not that I find that to be a terrible thing, or in some cases an incredible thing), who has more recently come under fire on twitter for for saying (paraphrasing likely here) that Trump isn’t that bad. I don’t normally mention politics here, as mostly it’s dirty & exhausting, but I thought her recent experience was a bit funny. Getting back to the business of this post, I first came to know of Sarandon by way of Janet in The Rocky Horror Picture Show, if you haven’t noticed that I’m a bit off/weird then you haven’t been paying attention, LOL.

Her style is distinctly feminine & often conservative, though she sure doesn’t shy away from displaying her curves when she has a mind to. I’ve noticed a particular fondness for, somewhat, simple necklaces & she has occasion to brandish wrist adornment as well. So I chose to focus on these attributes when compiling today’s inspired wishlist & I found all of these lovelies at Target (some are on clearance & won’t be around very much longer).
