A Pause to Refresh

Well, working 7 days a week, what with the regular job (frequently requiring overtime, for reasons I won’t go into here), my regular volunteer work through the week & trying desperately to pound out posts for my 2 blogs. I just need to take a bit of time off, I’ve had vacations from my 9 to 5, not really for my volunteer work & never from a blog. I’ve been doing Orbb’s Fashion since November 29, 2014, I’ve taken  breaks for critical computer problems & one because I just could not make the deadlines, but I spent that entire break struggling to make the next week’s deadlines so I was never really on any kind of tangible break. I feel like I’m suffocating in burnout because I never have a moment to stop & enjoy myself that doesn’t lead to a missed deadline. So, I need to take a bit of time to myself, play some of my games & have a moment to breath. I will return in a couple of weeks or so with fresh inspiration. 😉 Happy shopping my friends. ❤

Fantastical Friday: Catching Up a Bit

The Drizzt Do’Urden Saga began in 1988, I’ve been a follower of the series since ’93 or ’94 when my now husband let me borrow a book called The Halfling’s Gem. I have never been a speed reader, though I have long been an avid reader, I was immediately sucked into the story & 2 days of my life became almost exclusively (because I still ate food & went to the bathroom, but I barely slept, LOL) devoted to this book. Naturally, it was the 3rd book in the trilogy & he didn’t have the other 2 which in turn sparked a quest for the others. During the course of this undertaking, I found that newer books had been written about the same characters, so I had to get those too, eventually, as my teenage self could scrounge the money to continue the purchases, lol. Through the years more & more books have been added to the ongoing saga, it’s even spawned an offshoot or two, which I have also followed (because Gauntlgrym, the end of which made me cry like a baby for reasons I can’t share here, due to my husband (who hasn’t finished the book) reading this blog regularly. So, unfortunately, I am unable to commiserate with others who have been traumatized by the end of this story publicly. In honor of my current preoccupation I present to you The Neverwinter Saga (just an fyi, books 20 – 23 in The Drizzt Do’Urden Saga & this isn’t the end) from Amazon, I selected the kindle links because that’s how I’m reading them, but they are available in print as well. Happy reading 😉

Neverwinter1) Gauntlgrym: Neverwinter Saga, Book I ($7.99)
2) Neverwinter: The Neverwinter Saga, Book II ($7.99)
3) Charon’s Claw: Neverwinter Saga, Book III ($7.99)
4) The Last Threshold: Neverwinter Saga, Book IV ($7.99)

Fantastical Friday: My Mommy

Fantastical FridayDragon clip art attribution link

This past Sunday was Mother’s Day, which I’m sure you all knew & I thought it might be nice to share with you what I got for my mommy this year. I have nothing but respect, admiration & love for my mother. Growing up we were always been poor & I mostly remember good times, we never went hungry & we were all pretty happy. I even remember getting a lot more at Christmas time than I see my youngest sister, nieces & nephews getting (not sure why or how it worked out that way, but somehow that is the case). Mom was mostly alone to raise us & there are 7 of us, so you can imagine how challenging it must have been for her. My mother is amazing, always a loving, supportive figure, who can give you a swift kick in the pants when you need it most. So I thought I would get her something she is likely to use, unlike last year’s disaster (I got her a handbag, but it so wasn’t her style, I mean it looked fine, but the arrangement of pockets just doesn’t work for her) & this year I got her a cross. I found this little pretty at Walmart.

FF01Connections from Hallmark Stainless Steel Cross Pendant ($13)

The chain wasn’t long enough to suit her though, so I ended up ordering a longer chain, which came in a few days after Mother’s Day. This gift went over very well, so I actually managed to get her special day right this year, LOL. I hope you succeeded at making your mom feel special this year as well. 😉

Fantastical Friday: A Little Rant

Fantastical FridayDragon clip art attribution link

I don’t normally do rants here, in fact I haven’t done one at all. It’s high time I got around to this one though, as it is a most unfantastical situation & very fashion backward if you ask me. I am absolutely certain that I do not represent a minority when I speak of this terrible problem as well. What is it that has my dander up so much? Well, I’m going to tell you.

SHOES!!!

I don’t think my feet are all that big, I wear a women’s size 8, but I do not & have never conformed to society’s idea that  women have super slim feet. There is only one brand that can comfortably fit me & that is New Balance, as my size 8 are also 4E. So apparently I have paddle boats. NB does not make cute shoes outside of the tennies, they don’t even make a cute sandal. Of course I wear NB at work, because I’m constantly on my feet there & have previously faced the debilitating pain (so bad I was physically ill even) of wearing other shoes. This means I’m cursed to wear shoes that are too long & still too narrow on my off days. I absolutely hate that it takes about 2 seasons to break them in enough that I no longer have to worry about half my foot going numb every time I walk.

Many of the places I affiliate with offer little to no options for shoes that come in a wide. Why is it so hard? Why are we made to suffer like this? These are questions I won’t likely ever have answers to. I do have to question if this idiocy has anything to do with the enlarging waistline generally seen throughout my country, as it isn’t easy to make yourself get out there & do things (do you dance? because I don’t) when your feet are pretty much instantly in pain. I’m so tired of living with this bs that has haunted me for nearly the whole of my life. Do you have a similar struggle?

Fantastical Friday: OMG Zombies!!!

Fantastical FridayDragon clip art attribution link

Still suffering from TWD withdrawal & anxiously awaiting the start of season 8. At least the spin-off Fear The Walking Dead will (hopefully) turn up in a few months, though the exact date has yet to be announced. Luckily there are always movies, both silly & serious, that can help fill the zombie-less void. In the meantime there’s also varied zombie related paraphernalia to entertain even the most avid people munching monster lover & with that being the case I have compiled a little wishlist from Amazon for you perusing pleasure. 😉 I’ve also included a link to a ridiculous short movie, titled OMG!! Zombies, (I might have shared this before, can’t remember & I’m not going to dig through my posts to be sure, LOL) that I made in SmallWorlds several years back. Keep in mind that there is no verbal chat in SW, so reading chat bubbles is the norm & I didn’t change the style, so it’s technically a silent film (beware headphones/earbud users, some of the sound effects have moments of loud). You can clearly see the heavy influence from Night of the Living Dead, lol.

OMG Zombies1) Zombie Temporary Tattoos ($3.89)
2) Super Heroes Hair Bows ($7.95)
3) X-Plore Gear Emergency Paracord Bracelets | Set Of 2| Flint Fire Starter, Whistle, Compass & Scraper/Knife ($8.99)
4) Bio Hazard Necklace Zombie Apocalypse ($9.55)
5) Don’t Open Dead Inside Walking Dead Earrings ($9.95)
6) Zombie Outbreak Response Team White Distressed ($9.99)
7) United States Zombie Hunting License Permit ($9.99)
8) Zombie Parts Mirror Danglers Chains Race Accessory Dead Walking($17.95)
9) Design Toscano Zombie Skull Cauldron Box ($20.60)

Fantastical Friday: Spring is Here!

Fantastical Friday

Finally, spring has sprung, though it may still take a month or so for the weather to stop having random bursts of wintry temper tantrums.
