Fantastical Friday: Fantasy Decor Ideas

Fantastical FridayDragon clip art attribution link

Seems like it’s been quite a while since I’ve explored some home decor ideas, so I thought I would get into a few fantastical thoughts I’ve had recently on the subject. I went shopping around at Walmart to see what kind of fantasy items might be available for sprucing up the living space. Number 2 is the only one meant for outdoor use, but it makes me think of fairy doors that are common in some regions, so I thought to include it in this listing. I hope you’re all having a wonderful week & looking forward to an even more wondrous weekend (that’s if you’re not like me, working the weekend & all, LOL). ❤

Fantastical FridayDragon clip art attribution link

It’s so exciting, Halloween is almost here! While I have prepped a wishlist for this post, you will see in a future post of mine that we went with none of these. The handfasting is soaking up the vast majority of our funds so I really don’t have the money for my usual Halloween splurges. I can still window shop & drool over the seasonal selections though, lol. I can’t wait for the real festivities to begin & I hope you’re enjoying everything too. 😉 Today’s decor wishlist comes to us from Target, one of my fave stops for decor window shopping. 😀 I know the names of the items are a bit redundant, but the pieces are still worth the look. 😉

Fantastical Friday: Harvest Themes

Fantastical FridayDragon clip art attribution link

I love this time of year & it’s not just about Halloween (though that is a major contributor). The way the weather changes, the harvest vibe in the air, the beautiful color shifts of the leaves & of course Halloween, all combine to make this season particularly magical for me. What’s not to love about autumn? Probably I’m partial, since my birthday was yesterday, I am a fall girl, always have been. Being the only major shopping center within 5 miles of my house I tend to do a lot of my shopping (that isn’t online) at the local Walmart & they have really gone all out with decorating the store for the season this year. So I’ve naturally done a bit of shopping I shouldn’t have & the safer (more affordable) window shopping. I’ve put together a little wish list I think we can all enjoy. 😉

Fantastical Friday: Goth Wedding Decor

Fantastical FridayDragon clip art attribution link

t’s natural that I would continue to muse on this topic, lol. Some of these beautiful pieces, from Amazon, I will not be able to order in time, with so much being funneled into the big day & the remodel of the room that is to be ours. These are so great that I will likely have to make some later orders for various reasons. I especially love the little wooden coffins & think it might be fun to paint them, perhaps using them as pencil boxes & cute gifts (okay, you probably already knew I was weird, LOL). The candle stand, candelabra & candlesticks are also striking my fancy a LOT so they are also among my wishlist. I think I will have to get one of those lanterns, it’s just plain awesome & in my colors too. So here’s a list of things that would be amazing to have for a goth wedding.

Fantastical Friday: Stars & Stripes

Fantastical FridayDragon clip art attribution link

So the Fourth is almost upon us & I thought it might be nice to do a little outfit inspired by the occasion. I might have drifted a bit into steampunk, but well, I like it, so there. 😀 I thought the goggles might make a great headband, keeping my hair out of my eyes for the traditional grilling (I don’t have bangs btw, haven’t since I was a little girl) & the shoes were critical to help weave the bits of steampunk into the outfit. All of these lovely items were found at Amazon from various vendors.

Fantastical Friday: Halloween Wedding Thoughts

Fantastical FridayDragon clip art attribution link

I’ve mentioned a few times in passing that I’m getting married (handfasted) on Halloween (Samhain), so I thought it was about time to include some of the planning & options we’re looking at. The whole thing will be a small affair with family & a few close friends who might as well be family. My mother has graciously agreed to let us use her home for the event & I’m sure I will be sharing many posts that are along the lines of decoration choices & what-nots. In this post I’m going to talk rings, cake toppers & the gift bags we’re considering.

Let’s begin: I have opted for a single ring for myself & feel the one selected is just awesomely perfect (pretty sure I’ve mentioned being a bit of a goth, who else gets married on Halloween anyway, LOL). His ring is not quite exactly what I wanted (who cares what he thinks anyway, LOL, seriously though, he likes it), since I couldn’t find a lovely band with purple stones to match my ring we went with black. They haven’t yet arrived but I am very excited to see them, also there may be a bit of a sizing concern we’ll have to deal with before the big day, because you never know. 😉 I know what you’re thinking, “your engaged, have even set a date & you have no rings,” well, in all honesty, I’m 35 & we have been engaged since I was 18, the ceremony was not a high priority. On the other hand we do have pendants we’ve been wearing for years that we purchased together to symbolize out union, but since we’ve buckled down on a date & preparations it makes sense to use rings as a symbol that everyone will understand without an explanation.

Rings
Mine:
Pixel Jewelry 1985 – Marquise Cut Purple Amethyst Wedding Ring Black Gold Filled ($21.99)
His:
Pixel Jewelry 1985 – Black Sapphire CZ Mens Wedding Ring 10KT Black Gold Filled ($21.98)

We haven’t ordered any of the following items yet, but the gift bags are pretty much in the bag (LOL) while the cake toppers are still being considered. As far as the cake toppers go (I’m sure you can tell that all but one come from the same shop, given the water mark), we are leaning heavily for the one with the zombie dude offering a brain to the female zombie, it’s my man’s fave from the  current selection list (okay, so I might care, a little, about what he thinks).

Favor Bags n Cake Toppers1) 50 pcs Gift Bag Pouches Spider Web Transparent Black & Gold Drawstring ($9.95)
2) Frankenstein and Bride Wedding Cake Topper Made for Eachother ($15)
3) Zombie Heart Hands Wedding Cake Topper ($15)
4) Zombie Take My Brain Wedding Cake Topper ($16.50)
5) Love Never Dies Wedding Couple Figurine ($19.53)

Do you have any thoughts on a Halloween wedding in style? I’m interested in suggestions & constructive criticism. 🙂

S&A Product Review

I was very excited to find that my Style & Apply product had arrived! Then there was the time spent on prepping the living room walls & trying to figure out just exactly where each piece was going. The items I’m using are the Floral Butterfly Set, Article #DS 698, as they coordinate quite well with our existing decor. Following the link in this paragraph or the Style & Apply banner at the bottom of this post to do your shopping will earn a small commission for me. I was not paid for this post, but it is to be noted that I did receive a free product valued at $19.95 for the purpose of this review.

Packaging: The product came in a large tube, like a jumbo scroll. I loved the cute sticker of a dog carrying a similar package & excitedly announcing “WOOFFFF, IT’s HERE! LET’s DO THIS…” Very cute ❤

Product: All 15 of the beautiful floral butterflies came on one large coiled up sheet. Being a fan of the fantasy genre I couldn’t help but get more swept up into things with it resembling a giant scroll, large enough to be a map or captain’s chart. LOL

Application: First I washed the wall, then I cut sections out of the big sheet so I could more readily apply each piece. It was a bit time consuming preparing & placing each individual butterfly, but I feel that it was well worth the effort given the final overall look.

Ease of Use: The product was just as easy to apply as the youtube video (see video below) & the paper with instructions lead me to believe. While a bit time consuming, there was no difficulty at all.

Opinion: I absolutely love these beautiful butterflies! They go so well with the framed picture. The whole family is impressed at how perfectly the color accents the rest of the decor. I would definitely recommend similar products from Style & Apply to anyone who wants to liven up their walls. They are so easy to place & add an almost magical touch to the whole room. Take a look at the following picture to see how my adventure turned out. 😀 Sorry the pic is not the best, we used the best phone camera we had (actually tried them all with various types of lighting lol) & this was the best of them. 🙂

Wall02

There are so many different items to choose from Style & Apply & you are by no means restricted to just living room selections. They have many items meant for any kind of room you want to place them in. So many lovely choices, so few walls, LOL.
