Magnificent Monday: Ella Fitzgerald

Magnificent Monday

The First Lady of Song is another lovely woman who is sorely missed, though her incredible voice continues to be a part of us. One of the early Amateur Nights at the Apollo, when she was 17, helped to define her as a singer rather than the dancer she had thought she would be. While she won the $25 grand prize she was not given the oportunity to perform there for a week, which is normally associated with that prize. Around this time she met Chick Webb who was looking for a female singer to accompany his orchestra, while originally reluctant he helped launch her career.

Ella Fitzgerald

Looking at pictures of Ella it’s easy to see that her jewelry style was one of simple elegance. Sometimes less really is more. In keeping with her icon & graceful style choices I’ve made a few selections from Jolly Chic which I’m quite fond of. πŸ˜‰
