The Dawg Days

The misspelling in the title is based on the typical pronunciation of the word dog here is the south (quite unrelated to the brand), there is a certain amount of reverence in the drawled out word that bespeaks of a close personal relationship with man’s best friend. Now the idea that Siruis, the dog star, adds it’s heat to the sweltering summer days dates back to the Ancient Greeks & Romans. The association is first mentioned in the poem Works & Days by Hesiod who lived about 700 BCE. Most modern almanacs generally agree that it begins on the 3rd of July & lasts until the 17th of August. In the American south we know that the true horrors of the summer heat have yet to reveal themselves as it usually hits around mid to late July & lasts until early September.

Naturally, I’ve put together an ensemble that should be comfortable despite the hot & possibly humid conditions that are so prevalent this time of year. Hope you all find ways to stay cool this summer 😉 This collection comes from Lane Bryant & while it may not be the most frugal shop it does make up for it somewhat with great style. 😀
