Fantastical Friday: A Quick Cosplay

This post has been prepared with a minimum of DIY in mind. The wig & makeup will take a little bit of work. I’ve chosen to go with Jennifer Walters aka She Hulk & while I was unable to find very accurate costuming for her superhero mode that costume has changed may times through the years, especially during her stint with the Fantastic Four. I did try to stay with the main colors of white & purple, to further the accuracy of the majority of her costumes in the comics. To be noted, this character is not really into the accessories I so love, so no jewelry selections have been made. I missed the 2015 Memphis Comic Expo, which was in early June. I hope to make it next year, but we’ll see how it works out.

I’m going to start off with the wig. The length is a little off & it’s a bit straight for the part we need it for, so I have found a couple of youtube tutorials to help with that. One of the tutorials is for layering while the other is for curling synthetic hair. First I’m going to show a reference image which I found at Giant Bomb, the wig cap & wig are from Wigsbuy.

She Hulk

She Hulk Wig Best Quality Wig Cap 2pack ($16.49)
Yuni Hairstyle Long Layered Straight Deep Green Cosplay Wig 30 Inches (33.99)

Regardless of your costuming choices, green makeup is a must to effectively pull of She Hulk. These items I found at Amazon.com. The liquid latex is a must for not turning your outfit green, of course you’ll have to use something else if you have a latex allergy. If you have the money for it you could always get airbrushed green. 😉

She Hulk Makeup
Paradise Makeup AQ 40g Face & Body Paint ($12.99)
Tish & Snooky’s MANIC PANIC N.Y.C. Ice Metals Green Envy Lethal Lipstick ($12.25)
Ammonia Free Liquid Latex Body Paint 8oz Green ($12.99)

On to the costuming. I could not find a swimsuit that I especially liked for this, as all of them would require modification. I wanted to keep this as simple as possible so modifying a swimsuit seemed a bit much. My choices for her superhero get up are not that inaccurate really, she has worn a very similar costume briefly in the comics. These selections also come from Amazon.com.

She Hulk Hero FPT Womens Basic Sleeveless Racerback Crop Tank Top ($8.50)
Seamless Purple Hot Shorts Hot Pants ($5.90)
Bamboo Womens Rebeca-02R Boot ($14.99)
Volyer Women’s Winter Mink Cashmere Half Finger Gloves Cute Fingerless Gloves Mitts ($9.99)

Since her transformation she often stays in her hulk form, so the green makeup still works for her lawyer persona. These selections come from Walmart & I didn’t notice at first but they are all from the same collection, lol. I went with plus sizes for this one, because She Hulk is a big girl when not in her more human form.

Jennifer Walters George Women’s Plus-Size Long Sleeve Woven Career Blouse ($7)
George Women’s Plus-Size Classic Career Blazer ($21.88)
George Women’s Plus-Size Career Suiting Pencil Skirt ($13)
George Women’s Classic Mid-Heeled Pump Dress Shoe ($11.97)
